Superunknown Rotary Grind — Verse & Heavy Chorus
Chris Cornell used a Gretsch Duo Jet with a bright Marshall JMP 50 and darker Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier blended for the record’s heavy sections. The verse’s Beatlesque movement came from a Leslie Model 16, while the published amplifier settings keep both amps at moderate rather than extreme gain. Guitar-control and microphone values are representative, but the amp controls follow Guitar World’s published reconstruction. Notes
Tune to Drop D, then match the slightly sharp pitch of the original recording by ear when playing along. Keep the rotary verse broad and dreamy, and let the Mesa add weight only when the heavy section arrives.
