Frusciante’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik basics commonly used a late-1950s Stratocaster split between Marshall guitar and bass heads, with very little ambience or layering. The unusual solo was recorded as a sparse forward performance and reversed on tape; exact song-specific amplifier settings were not documented, so the controls below are representative.
