Sultans of Swing

Mark Knopfler described the signature sound as a 1961 Stratocaster with its three-way selector jammed between positions, played through a Fender Twin. Later session reporting notes that the precise studio amp is not conclusively logged, but confirms a sparse treatment of compression and reverb.
