The White Stripes
Jack White created the bass-like riff by sending his Kay hollowbody through a DigiTech Whammy set one octave down into a mid-1960s Silvertone 1485. The solo adds Big Muff fuzz and slide while retaining the octave effect. The Silvertone controls follow Guitar World’s published reconstruction; pedal levels are representative where exact positions were not documented. Jack White recorded all three guitar voices with an early-1960s Kay K6533 archtop through a Sears Silvertone 1485. The apparent bass riff is the guitar shifted one octave down, while the solo adds a Big Muff after the Whammy; the documented original settings are reproduced below.
