The famous dual guitar outro solo uses two clean-to-slightly-overdriven Fender amps. Chorus adds the shimmer.

Don Felder’s arrangement combined a processed 12-string introduction with contrasting electric voices: his humbucker-equipped Les Paul through a cranked tweed Fender Deluxe and Joe Walsh’s brighter Telecaster sound. Felder’s intro chain is documented with a Takamine 12-string, DeArmond pickup, Echoplex and Leslie, while Walsh later recalled a small Roland combo but was not fully certain of the model.
